invitation design

I suppose I can do that, too! My roommate showed me an invitation she was interested in using for her wedding announcements. At a rate of $250 or so dollars for a "consultation," and "custom colors and printing" I said, "Jocelyn. I can do that for you in like, 15 minutes and get them printed (and well!!) for like, 40 bucks." About 45 minutes later (I suppose i did underestimate the time commitment) I had this: (Not too shabby, eh?)

Hmm....looks like my horizons are expanding.

(please forgive the awful picture quality of the .jpg. Also, please note that all date, time and location information is false.)

great finds

I found this today. I'm loving it. In fact, i have always loved Real Simple. My mom would get the magazines and they were my absolute favorite to go through. Now I get daily emails of tips, tricks and finds! This latest post has to be my favorite so far.

I've also been searching around etsy.com. They have a similar style and flair, in general, though etsy is made up of many different designers and artists. Because of etsy, i've felt ever so inspired to run to my nearest thrift shop to see what there is to see. I remember finding a great vintage side table (circa 1960) and radio (circa 1940) the last time i was there. But what would i do with a vintage (and broken) radio - i mean, really? Sadly, my role in life right now doesn't allow for too much frivilous spending and/or decorating. But that won't stop me from accumulating ideas! Hooray!!

But my favorite etsy.com find was this seller: FromGraytoGold and i'm contemplating the pucrhase of this lamp.

Story People

I love Story People. I found them at the Abacus Gallery in Boothbay Harbor, Maine two summers ago and I've stalked them ever since. I look for them online, and try to spot new ones and look forward to my new, yearly tradition of purchasing one every summer in Maine.

My latest says "Most people don't know that there are angels whose only job is to make sure you don't get too comfortable & fall asleep & miss your life."

I love it.

I mostly just love the color and the playful, childlike, abstract feel they all have. That's probably also why they make me cry when i read them. True!!

Rugs rugs rugs!

When I was in Portland, ME this summer I went into a fabulous store called Company C. I signed up for a mailing list while I was there and I periodically get emails from them about new promotions, sales and events. Granted, I don't live in Maine or Mass. (where their locations are) nor do I really have the means at this point to buy much of their stuff!!

Despite this - I love to look around. And boy, do I look around.

<--- I've had a particular fetish, lately, for rugs. Like this one!

I'm fascinated by these rugs. Really, I am. I find myself having visions of where to use them and how and how I could build an entire room off of a color scheme or style of a RUG! (I know, I know. Just call me crazy ;)!! )

Monday Morning

School starts in a week. How does this make me feel? Well, quite frankly, i would rather do many other things than go to school in a week. Of course, pleasant things would be nice. I think just about anyone would rather eat a a peanut butter and jelly sandwich than have to start school in a week and commit to it's intensive 16-week abuse. Unless someone were allergic to peanuts...or bread...then eating a peanut butter and jelly sandwich may not be the more preferable choice.

You know, when i really think about it, i guess I don't so much mind the idea of starting school in a week. No, i really don't. I'll get to live with my roommates again and live near campus. It really is the idea of the 16-week long rigmarole that's making my insides feel all jumbly.

As for this very moment? This sunny last-Monday-Morning of my "sumer?" Well, this is how i feel:

I want to stay in bed. Things just seem easier there.

Goals for today:
Find something colorful and unique. And then write a blog about it.
